What Is Tin Metal?

Tin is one of the most common scrap metals that will be taken to a scrap yard on a daily basis. Tin is also called and referred to as light iron or steel at scrap yards around the US & Canada. Often times, tin is going to be priced at most scrap yards as a per ton basis. Tin is an actual alloy, but in most scrap metal terms tin is known as the lightest and one of the cheaper grades of steel. Tin can also be known as light iron depending on which yard that you go to.

How To Prepare Tin For Scrap

So when you are collecting steel or light iron, keep that in mind so you know you should collect a few hundreds pounds at a time and take your load of metal to the scrap yard in one trip. Collecting more tin together at one time, can benefit you at the scale too, sometimes scrap yards or salvage yards will give you a slightly better price if you bring a higher quantity.
