About Rotors

If you are wondering how to scrap rotors, we have some information that may be able to help you. Scrap rotors are a heavier steel that most scrap yards will recycle. Before you bring your scrap rotors into a scrap yard, be sure to find one on the iScrap App and make sure they accept them at their location.

How Do I Sell Scrap Rotors?

If you’re wondering how to scrap rotors, first find a scrap yard in your area on the iScrap App and call them to see what they are currently paying for them. Rotors can also be considered auto cast scrap, so depending on the area and also the scrap yard, they may group rotors in that same category.

Make sure you remove brake pads so you can get a clean rotor price. Oftentimes when the brake pads are still attached the price will go down to a light iron grading, sometimes lower.

Where Do Rotors Come From?

Rotors or auto-cast come from the obvious place, automobiles. Rotors are used for the wheels of vehicles and are a very heavy steel. The quality of steel is higher than most common steel, so be sure to separate it when bringing it to your yard. This way you can get the most money for it when scrapping. Auto-cast steel is going to be a good quality steel for most scrap yards, so be sure to check prices with the yard before you go.
