O2 Sensors are not a common item that scrap yards will buy, but core buyers and those buying catalytic converters, will often buy them for scrap value. The price of O2 Sensors sometimes depends on how many you have and also the buyer’s resources.
For the most part, you will find O2 Sensors on the wiring of catalytic converters and they can be identified because they look like a small cartridge attached to the wire. You can use a wire snipper to cut off the ends of the wire (p.s. don’t forget to add the wires to your pile) and separate the O2 Sensors into a separate bucket.
O2 Sensors are not a common item that all scrap yards buy, so you may have to do some research. We have found that typically scrap yards that are buying catalytic converters, salvage yards buying cars, or core buyers are commonly the type of businesses that will buy your O2 Sensors. So be sure to use the iScrap App to find a scrap yard nearby and give some a call to ask if they buy O2 Sensors.
Typically we have seen scrap prices for O2 Sensors range from $1.00 to $2.00 per pound. It’s not common, but some buyers purchase O2 Sensors per item and that price will vary. Best option is to first find someone that does purchase O2 Sensors for scrap and then find out what they pay.
