About High Speed Steel

Where To Sell Scrap High Speed Steel

High speed steel can withstand high temperatures without losing its structure. If you have dull saw blades or drill bits that you no longer use, most people don’t know that you can scrap them! How Do You Sell High Speed Steel?

The best thing you can do is to take your equipment that is no longer being used and scrap it. The iScrap app can help you find a scrap yard near you that accepts high speed steel (HSS) and also help you find prices at those yards. To get the best price for high speed steel contact more than one scrap yard near you as sometimes different yards pay different prices.

Are Carbide And High Speed Steel The Same?

That is a GREAT question…and one that could not be further from the truth. Carbide and HSS are VERY different metals and the value of them are very different and many times they look similar. Ways to tell them apart could be with an XRF analyzer so it can see what metals make up each of the drill bits. Often times you will find with high speed steel that it will have a HSS marked on the side…and that is a great way to know it is not carbide .
