Where Does Cast Aluminum Come From?

Cast aluminum is generally formed in molds in factories and some examples of cast are engine blocks, cast grills, and other parts from vehicles. Another common place to find cast aluminum is out on your patio…where you sit. Yes you got it! Cast aluminum patio sets are very common, just make sure to remove the plastic webbing from them before cashing them in if they have it. Generally cast aluminum is poured into a mold, but sometimes cast aluminum can be made through a vacuum process. Make sure to ask your scrap yard about the prices on cast and how they want it properly prepared

How Do You Know Cast Aluminum?

You would think that this question is easy, but it not always is that easy. Cast aluminum looks so similar to many metals like zinc and die cast that it is not always that easy to tell the difference…so how do you know what it is? Well first things first, cast aluminum is much more common then those other metals so you can bet that you will have normal cast aluminum if you are scrapping items like grills and many engine parts. Cast aluminum will look like it was poured into a mold…or “casted.”
