About 321 Stainless Steel

321 Stainless Steel Grading

Grade 321 stainless steel can be scrapped at most scrap metal yards for cash. This grade of stainless steel is commonly used for aircraft exhaust manifolds, furnace parts and spiral welded tubes for burner pipes and flues so the 321 Stainless Steel Scrap Prices can vary. If you are bringing some of this material to your local scrap yard, you should find out as much information about it before you bring it in. The more information about where the material came from and what it was used for will help the scrap yard determine the grade of stainless steel.

Different Stainless Grades

There are A LOT of types of stainless steels, but knowing that is more then half of the battle. Here are some grades of stainless (that all look alike) that you should look out for:

If you have 321 stainless steel you will mostly likely have a large quantity of it so check about specific pricing with your scrap yard. They may pay special prices for different grades and they may require to analyze it to determine the grade. If you have a load of scrap 321 stainless steel from a construction job or tear out that is too large to transport to your local scrap metal yard you can easily schedule a pick up on the iScrap App.

How Do You Know What You Have?

It is almost impossible to just look at stainless steel and know which grade you have (unless of course it has a stamping on it…which generally is rare.). So the only real way to know is by asking your scrap yard to use their XRF Analyzer. This tool will be able to shoot little XRays into the metal and see what grade that it is.

The app will also find prices for 321 stainless steel at yards near you. To get the best 321 stainless steel pricing, check out prices from more than one yard. See more Scrapping Videos here.
